01 · Work

Tickets, registrations and lots of street races.

At Giro Ingressos I touch everything: website, app, back end and the services that talk to the sports world. Selling tickets looks simple until a batch opens and everyone hits "buy" in the same second.

What's actually hard

  1. 01

    Money can't go missing

Approved, declined, refunded, a notification that arrives twice… At the end of the day, every cent has to add up.

  2. 02

    Everyone wants the same spot

The batch opens, everyone clicks at once and spots are counted. You can't sell the same spot twice, and you can't leave buyers stuck.

  3. 03

    Traffic spikes

At 3 a.m. almost nobody visits the site. When sales open, everybody shows up at once. The platform has to handle both.

  4. 04

    Talking to other systems

Strava, timing systems and other services connect to the platform through Rust and Go microservices, fast and secure.

  5. 05

    Staying up

Uptime Kuma keeps an eye on the website, login, photos and messaging. Something went down? We know right away.

Interactive course map

One of the things I built at Giro. Organizers paste a Strava link (or upload a GPX) and the route becomes an animated map on the event page. Athletes hit play and see the whole race before the start.

  • Strava + GPX
  • Playback from 0.5x to 10x
  • WhatsApp preview
  • Its own page on Google

Photos with facial recognition

Photographers from all over Brazil upload race photos and facial recognition finds each athlete among them. Behind it, a Rust and Python service tuned for our load.

04 · About Me

Self-taught since 2014, curious since forever.

I started programming in 2014, on my own and as a hobby, and never stopped. Away from the keyboard, I practice capoeira, play chess and like writing about whatever I'm studying.

Today I'm a fullstack developer at Giro Ingressos, a ticketing and registration platform for events.

Pretty much everything I make ends up on GitHub, and when I find something cool, I write about it on TabNews.

I also run Espiral, a blog about movies, TV shows, comics, anime, manga and music. If you're into pop culture, drop by and tell me what you think.
